Senior Mechanical Engineer
Location: Near University of Chicago (Chicago, IL)
Salary: $110–115K base (flexible; up to $120–125K for lead/mentorship experience)

We are partnered with a stable, growing manufacturer of commercial loudspeaker and audio communication systems to add a Senior Mechanical Engineer to their team. This individual will operate at a senior/lead level, playing a key role in product design and engineering execution, with a clear path to becoming a subject matter expert within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design and development of commercial audio products from concept through production
  • Design and engineer sheet metal components, enclosures, brackets, and assemblies for speaker systems
  • Create and modify 3D models, drawings, and detailed documentation for manufacturing
  • Evaluate designs for manufacturability, cost efficiency, and performance optimization
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams
  • Support prototyping, testing, and validation of new and existing products
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to product design and production processes
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor to junior engineers as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong experience with sheet metal design, fabrication methods, and related processes
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks or similar)
