Mechanical Engineer – Custom Automation & Machine Tool DesignWe are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our growing custom automation and machine tool team. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex mechanical challenges, and has a strong background designing automated machinery from concept through production.The successful candidate will work on multiple concurrent projects involving custom automation systems, machine tools, robotic integration, and manufacturing equipment. You will collaborate closely with controls engineers, manufacturing teams, project managers, suppliers, and customers to develop reliable, manufacturable solutions that meet performance, cost, and schedule requirements.ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop custom automated machinery, machine tools, fixtures, and mechanical systemsCreate detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawingsManage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and project milestonesApply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to improve manufacturability, assembly, reliability, and cost efficiencyPerform mechanical calculations, component sizing, tolerance analysis, and system layout developmentSelect mechanical components including motors, gearboxes, bearings, actuators, linear motion systems, and pneumatic/hydraulic componentsCollaborate with controls engineers to integrate sensors, robotics, motion systems, and automation hardwareSupport machine build, assembly, troubleshooting, testing, and customer acceptance activitiesWork with suppliers and internal manufacturing teams to resolve technical and production issuesParticipate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiativesQualifications3+ years of experience designing and developing custom automated machinery or machine toolsStrong experience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar platformsDemonstrated ability to manage multiple engineering projects simultaneouslyStrong understanding of machining, fabrication, assembly methods, and manufacturing processesExperience applying Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principlesKnowledge of pneumatics, servo systems, robotics, and motion control systems preferredStrong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a team environmentPreferred ExperienceRobotic integration and automated production systemsMachine safety standards and risk assessmentsHands-on machine startup and troubleshootingExperience in high-speed automation or precision equipment designWhat We OfferOpportunity to work on highly customized, technically challenging projectsCollaborative engineering environment with strong project ownershipCompetitive compensation and benefits packageCareer growth within an innovative automation company#J-18808-Ljbffr
