Mechanical Engineers develop solutions and implement projects that improve the process and reliability for the plant along with working collaboratively with our bargaining unit operations teams and outside contractors. We have multiple openings in the plant.Summary of ResponsibilitiesEnsure compliance with safety quality and environmental standards.Possess the ability to work effectively within a team environment utilizing clear and effective communication skills.Continuously improve equipment reliability through best maintenance practices.Perform detailed technical calculations pertaining to equipment and mechanical computations and communicate with team members to resolve any questions or issues as needed.Recommend andor perform predictive preventative and emergency maintenance on equipment.Resolve equipment malfunctions including those requiring scheduled shutdowns or breakdown action.Read and interpret blueprints technical drawings schematics and computer-generated reports.Manage the planning scheduling and cost controlling of maintenance and engineering projects.Manage technical aspects of assigned projects in accordance with customer contract requirements budget and production schedule. Seek methods or procedures that reduce costs andor increase production efficiencies.Complete project responsibilities for design specification review and development of mechanical equipment or systems.Analyze current operating performance and standard operating procedures and make recommendations for improvement.Supervise a crew of hourly maintenance employees and uphold and enforce safety environmental job procedures and maintain general discipline of the crew.Communicate with upstream and downstream operations and non-Cleveland-Cliffs contractors to coordinate work deliveries and service.Other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsBachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technologyfrom an accredited schoolThree 3 years of experience in a heavy industrial environment.Proven communication verbal and written analytical organizational and time management skills.Ability to work in a hot dusty environment. Climbing stairs ladders and walking inclines.
