Pay Range:

Annual Salary: $75,800.00 - $121,800.00

The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.

The Kinetic Group is a world leader in the design, manufacturing, and distribution of small caliber ammunition under the iconic brands B&P, CCI, Federal Premium, Fiocchi, HEVI, Remington and Speer. We have domestic ammunition manufacturing facilities in Minnesota, Idaho, Arkansas, and Missouri, and service law enforcement, government agencies and sporting enthusiasts throughout the world. Federal Ammunition is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead new rifle ammunition development programs and help bring innovative, market-leading products to life.

 

This role combines product development, manufacturing collaboration, testing, and problem-solving to take products from concept through production launch. We are looking for engineers who enjoy working with precision mechanical products, advanced materials, manufacturing processes, and hands-on technical challenges.

 

This role reports to the Manager of New Product Development and is based out of our office in Anoka, Minnesota.

 

What you’ll do:

• Lead all phases of new rifle ammunition product development programs from concept through manufacturing launch.
• Develop product designs, test plans, specifications, validation requirements, budgets, timelines, and technical documentation.
• Partner closely with Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Product Management teams to successfully introduce new products into production.
• Evaluate manufacturing processes, equipment capabilities, tooling performance, and process readiness to support successful product launches.
• Establish and maintain bills of material, manufacturing specifications, and raw material requirements.
• Conduct product testing, analyze performance data, and make technical recommendations to improve product performance and manufacturability.
• Perform root cause investigations and failure analysis to identify and resolve product, material, and manufacturing issues.
• Support supplier and raw material qualification activities, including collaboration with external vendors and technical partners.
• Utilize statistical tools and data analysis techniques to support product development, process improvement, and problem-solving activities.
• Work closely with engineering technicians, assigning project work and communicating technical requirements and program objectives.
• Support Marketing and Sales teams through technical reviews, product training, content development, and industry events as a subject matter expert.

 

Experience you bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
• 1-3+ years of engineering experience in product development, manufacturing engineering, process engineering, materials engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field. *Recent graduates are encouraged to apply
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on approach to problem-solving.
• Experience working with manufactured products and production processes.
• Knowledge of materials, manufacturing methods, testing, and engineering fundamentals.
• Experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting technical data.
• Experience using statistical analysis tools such as Minitab or similar software.
• Ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.

 

You might also have:

• Experience developing or manufacturing precision mechanical products.
• Experience with metal forming, stamping, machining, tooling, materials engineering, process development, or high-volume manufacturing environments.
• Experience with design validation, root cause analysis, failure investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• CAD/CAM experience and familiarity with engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) activities from development through production launch.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.

• Hunting, competitive shooting, or shooting sports
• Reloading experience
