Employer: Steed Hammond Paul Inc., 312 Plum St., Suite 700, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202Title: Mechanical Engineer - HVACWorksite: 1250 Revolution Mill Drive, Suite 250, Greensboro, NC 27405Responsibilities The Mechanical Engineer - HVAC at SHP in Greensboro, NC works alongside the Engineering Team to define and communicate sustainable design options for the company's project teams and clients.He or she designs a variety of HVAC system types, including 4-pipe heating and cooling, central boiler and chiller plants, Variable Air Volume (VAV) air handling systems, geothermal systems, ice storage, variable refrigerant flow, chilled beams, and others.The Mechanical Engineer - HVAC prepares and reviews construction and permit drawings and specifications; performs load and fluid dynamics calculations, energy modeling, and fluid pressure statics analyses to optimize overall building design; utilizes life-cycle cost analysis to establish energy goals for project designs and long-term operations; and designs duct, heating, and chilled water piping layout utilizing 3D MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) and Revit modeling software, and applying ASHRAE 90.1 and 62.1 standards to sustainability analyses; and utilizing CAD, BIM, and Load Calc software.Position involves occasional site visits to local projects and to other SHP U.S. locations for meetings.
