Lake Superior Consulting – Mechanical Engineer IIILocations: Duluth, MN; Minneapolis, MN; Traverse City, MI; Nashville, TN; Houston, TX; Omaha, NE; Cranberry Township, PAThe successful candidate will be responsible for the mechanical design of facilities and systems associated with energy industry projects from inception through delivery. Duties include performing engineering analysis and calculations, developing reports, interfacing with clients, and providing guidance to junior personnel.ResponsibilitiesProvide engineering expertise for mechanical design and oversee development of drawing packages, estimating, and related functions for projects involving pipelines, process sites, and other energy‑industry facilities.Offer technical assistance to Engineering and Operations Departments to resolve operating problems or establish best practices.Take initiative to determine optimal paths for effective project execution.Effectively complete projects using engineering principles and techniques.Read and interpret P&ID, technical drawings, schematics, equipment specifications, industry codes, and technical reports.Produce detailed project specifications and design requirements.Confer with engineers and personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.Perform basic modifications to CAD and drafting functions to aid project deliverables.Possess knowledge of materials and material specifications.Perform design analyses, engineering calculations, and write technical reports.Work with CAD designers to develop drawing packages for construction.Provide direction to junior personnel.PEs will be required to approve and stamp engineering designs.Position RequirementsBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.3+ years of relevant experience.Education and EIT required; PE preferred.Ability to quickly adapt to diverse needs and changing projects.Willingness and eagerness to learn new skills.Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).Less than 25% travel, though travel may be more intensive at times.Ability to independently perform engineering design functions.Physical Requirements and DemandsFrequent periods of standing, especially on project sites.Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.Exposure to varying weather during travel.Ability to work extra hours when projects demand.Compensation and BenefitsCompensation: $80,200 – $110,200 (salary based on experience and location).Medical, Dental, Vision InsuranceFlexible work options401(k) with 6% company matchCompany‑paid life, AD&D, and short/long term disabilityPaid time off (PTO) and 12 paid holidays per yearTuition reimbursementBias‑Free Hiring PracticesLake Superior Consulting is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
