Description
Job Summary: Client is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to work as a part of a team of engineers and designers preparing modification packages for mechanical systems serving the nuclear power industry.
Minimum Qualifications:
5 years of mechanical system design or modification experience with at least 2 years in a nuclear facility in the US
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (2 years nuclear) in the mechanical engineering field.
The ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant.
Preferred Qualifications:
NANTeL Certified in the Nuclear Standard Design Process (IP-ENG-01)
Professional Engineering (PE) license in US
Experience with fluid flow software (AFT FATHOM, or Equivalent)
Experience with Fire Protection and Detection Systems
Responsibilities:
Develop design modification packages for mechanical systems at a nuclear power plant.
Perform engineering calculations such as hydraulic analysis, equipment sizing, HVAC sizing, heat load analysis, and pressure loss calculations.
Develop mechanical design and procurement specifications.
Prepare engineering drawings such as Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID), General Arrangement (GA), Equipment Plan, Piping Orthographic and Isometric drawings.
Develop material and work hour estimates as well as engineering and design schedules.
Exercise sound engineering judgment in assessing problem situations or complex issues, review completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and design criteria.
Interface with plant stakeholders to determine project scope/requirements, support construction/implementation and start up activities as required.
