Out at sea, there's no margin for failure.Naval systems must operate reliably in extreme conditions, constant vibration, high heat, saltwater corrosion, and continuous operational demand. The hardware that supports these missions must be engineered not just to function, but to endure. At WR, we design and deliver the mechanical and electrical systems that protect, support, and enable critical naval technologies. From concept through deployment, our work ensures that mission-critical equipment performs exactly as expected, when it matters most. The OpportunityWe're seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to take ownership of the design, development, and qualification of electromechanical systems supporting naval platforms. This role goes beyond design. You'll help bring systems to life. From reviewing bill of materials and developing detailed technical data packages, your work ensures that what's built can withstand the realities of the field. You'll play a key role in translating engineering concepts into robust, manufacturable, and field-ready solutions. What You'll Work OnDesign and develop electromechanical systems and mechanical components for naval applicationsReview and refine bill of materials (BOMs) to ensure accuracy, cost-efficiency, and manufacturabilityCreate and maintain detailed technical data packages (TDPs) to support production and lifecycle managementDevelop 3D models and engineering drawings using Autodesk InventorSupport and contribute to environmental qualification testing (temperature, vibration, humidity, etc.)Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration across mechanical, electrical, and system componentsSupport prototype development, testing, and design iterationEnsure compliance with applicable military and industry standardsWhat Makes This Role DifferentYou're not just designing parts, you're ensuring systems survive real-world conditions at seaYour designs will directly support mission readiness and operational reliabilityYou'll bridge the gap between engineering design and real-world performanceWho This Role Is ForThis role is ideal for an engineer who:Thinks beyond CAD models and considers how things actually perform in the fieldEnjoys solving practical challenges like heat dissipation, durability, and manufacturabilityTakes pride in creating systems that are not only functional—but reliable under pressureWants to lead design efforts and influence how systems are built and deliveredMust-have QualificationsBachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.Six (6)+ years of full-time professional experience working as a Mechanical Engineer.Experience working with CAD software (AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor preferred) with strong knowledge of 3D modeling, Bills of Materials (BOM), and manufacturing documentation.Ability to evaluate cost, manufacturability, and quality considerations in engineering designs.Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting DoD or Navy programsFamiliarity with MIL-STD environmental requirementsExperience with product lifecycle support from concept through productionPrior experience leading or mentoring engineersClearance RequirementActive DoD security clearanceThe selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment third-party background check which may include verification of any of the following: Employment history; Education and/or certifications; Criminal history; Driving Records; Other records or information related to the candidate's suitability for the position.Benefits OfferedWR offers a comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Paid Time Off, Company Paid Holidays, Life Insurance, Short- and Long-Term Disability, Flexible Spending Account, Employee Assistance Program, and Tuition Reimbursement.WR is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
