Tesla InfrastructureEngineering is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support the design and procurement of process mechanical equipment in industrial facilities. This position involves coordinating with multiple teams to ensure accurate and timely requisitioning of mechanical components such as pumps compressors heat exchangers pressure vessels and tanks. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and a deep understanding of the process chemical industrys regulatory and operational requirements.
Review engineering drawings PFDs P&IDs Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams and specifications to identify mechanical material requirements for oil & gas facilities including onshore and offshore installations
Review process data sheets to understand requirements and create mechanical data sheets for associated equipment
Develop and issue purchase requisitions RFQs Requests for Quotation and technical bid evaluations for mechanical vendors and suppliers focusing on quality cost and delivery
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including process piping electrical controls and civil engineers as well as project management and construction managers to resolve technical discrepancies and optimize equipment selections
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations such as API American Petroleum Institute ASME American Society of Mechanical Engineers ISO and OSHA
Ensure equipment design and selection meet safety and quality standards and implement quality control procedures
Monitor project progress track requisition statuses and mitigate risks related to material shortages delays or non-conformances
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
2 - 5 years of experience with mechanical engineering role for oil & gas chemical or industrial capital projects
Proficiency in mechanical design software such as AutoCAD SolidWorks Ansys or other programs for 3D modeling and review of mechanical equipment
Familiarity with procurement best practices from project inception through construction completion
Familiarity with International codes and standards like ASME API ISO OSHAGood interface knowledge with other disciplines e.g. process piping electrical instrumentation civil structural and knowledge of their deliverables
Willingness to travel to project sites up to 20 and adhere to safety protocols in industrial settings
