Mechanical Engineer
Position Summary
Our client is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of custom process equipment, material handling systems, conveyor systems, and manufacturing solutions for industrial and food production environments.
This position will work closely with engineering, project management, fabrication, controls, operations, vendors, and customers to deliver turnkey equipment and systems from concept through startup and commissioning. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex manufacturing challenges and can balance technical design responsibilities with project execution.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design custom mechanical equipment, conveyor systems, material handling systems, process equipment, and supporting structures.
  • Develop 3D models, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and detailed engineering documentation using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software.
  • Create plant layouts and equipment integration plans for manufacturing and processing facilities.
  • Perform mechanical design calculations, equipment sizing, and component selection.
  • Develop bills of materials (BOMs), equipment specifications, and procurement documentation.
  • Collaborate with controls engineers, fabrication teams, project managers, and field personnel throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors regarding equipment specifications, pricing, lead times, and technical requirements.
  • Support equipment installation, startup, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Conduct site visits, field measurements, and customer meetings as required.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable safety, quality, and industry standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, manufacturability, maintainability, and cost effectiveness.
  • Provide technical support during fabrication and field installation.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • 3+ years of mechanical design experience in industrial equipment, manufacturing, automation, process systems, material handling, packaging equipment, or related industries.
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or comparable 3D CAD platforms.
  • Experience designing fabricated equipment, welded assemblies, and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, welding, sheet metal, and structural fabrication.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering fundamentals.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with conveyor systems, material handling equipment, packaging equipment, or process systems.
  • Experience supporting food and beverage, consumer products, chemical, pharmaceutical, or industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with sanitary design principles and industry standards.
  • Experience with equipment integration, plant layouts, and facility design.
  • Exposure to controls systems, instrumentation, and automation projects.
  • Experience supporting installation, startup, and commissioning activities.
