Mechanical Engineer – Oilfield Downhole Tools

Location: Fort Worth, TX
Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Salary: $80K+ (DOE)

About the Opportunity

Our client, a well-established manufacturer of precision oilfield casing and downhole tool equipment, is seeking an energetic Mechanical Engineer to join their engineering team in Fort Worth, TX. This is an opportunity to work alongside a team of technical experts designing, building, and testing equipment used across the oil and gas industry. The ideal candidate is a systems thinker with strong hands-on technical skills and a drive for engineering excellence.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in the execution of design processes on assigned projects, under the guidance of senior technical staff
  • Create design packages following established guidelines — design, model, and support initial manufacturing runs
  • Participate in meetings with internal departments, clients, vendors, and field operators as needed
  • Support senior engineers in developing technical documentation, proposals, and presentations
  • Serve as a member of the design team — coordinating project schedules, new designs, and prototyping; developing test equipment and operating procedures; and resolving issues in manufacturing and the field
  • Stay current on relevant engineering studies, industry standards, and design software
  • Perform work consistent with ethical engineering standards
  • Participate in cross-training to broaden expertise across multiple products and departments
  • Perform engineering calculations and system design functions under supervision
  • Participate in new design and design review meetings

What You Bring

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in design and R&D testing
  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience

Preferred:

  • Field operations experience in oil and gas
  • Experience designing downhole oilfield tools

Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and MS Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under pressure and time constraints
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems, industry standards, and best practices
  • Commitment to following appropriate standards, policies, and procedures
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ownership mentality when resolving challenging technical issues
