Position SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated Truck Frame Engineer with strong experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), metal fabrication, and supplier collaboration. This role will be responsible for the design, development, and production support of truck frame structures, ensuring robustness, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with welded structures, fabrication processes, and will work closely with suppliers to bring designs from concept to production.Position ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop truck frame structures and subframes from concept through productionApply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to ensure efficient fabrication, weldments and assemblyCreate and release 2D drawings, 3D models, and GD&T documentationWork closely with fabrication shops and suppliers to optimize manufacturability, cost, and qualitySupport prototype builds, testing, and validation of frame designsReview and approve supplier designs, tooling, and fabrication processesDrive continuous improvement initiatives in frame design, weight reduction, and cost optimizationTroubleshoot manufacturing issues, welding defects, and tolerance stack‑upsParticipate in design reviews, DFMEA, and root cause analysisEnsure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and durability requirementsPosition QualificationsBachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field5+ years of experience in truck, trailer, heavy vehicle frame design, or complex weldmentsStrong understanding of:Welded structures and fabrication processesDesign for Manufacturing (DFM)Steel structures and material selectionExperience working with suppliers and fabrication vendorsProficiency in CAD tools (Inventor, or similar)Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance analysisExperience with prototype builds and production supportUtilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to evaluate structural performance, identify design improvements, and drive data‑based engineering decisionsIdeal Candidates Will Also HaveUnderstanding of cost modeling and supplier negotiationExperience with PLM systemsKey SkillsStrong problem‑solving and analytical skillsHands‑on approach to manufacturing and shop‑floor supportEffective cross‑functional collaboration (suppliers, manufacturing, quality)Ability to manage multiple projects and timelinesOrange EV is an Equal Opportunity Employer and seeks diversity in candidates for employment.
