The Opportunity

At JBT Marel, we're looking for a Mechanical Engineer to design and test mechanical systems for food equipment machinery. You'll work with cross-functional teams to define customer needs, develop new features, and ensure designs meet specifications. Important responsibilities include CAD layouts, DFMEA, cost estimations, and solving mechanical field problems. You'll also collaborate with manufacturing, sourcing, and suppliers to increase the cost/value relationship of our designs.

This position is located within Kingston, NY. Must live within a commutable distance to the facility.

Onsite position with flexibility to work from home 2 days per week once oriented and performing in the role.


Responsibilities:

  • Lifecycle Management of Design Data (65%) Create and review engineering drawings, CAD models, and ECNs. Oversee database management to ensure all design data is accurate, organized, and accessible for future reference and manufacturing needs.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams (10%) Work closely with our teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and can be sourced, optimizing both cost and value. Collaborate with sales, applications, and manufacturing to align designs with practical and our requirements.
  • Technical Support in Testing, Validation, and Debugging (10%) Provide technical expertise in the testing, validation, and troubleshooting of food equipment machinery. Support the debugging process to ensure equipment meets performance and quality standards.
  • Detailed Calculations for Design and Troubleshooting (10%) Perform detailed mechanical calculations to support design decisions and contribute to problem-solving during the troubleshooting of mechanical systems.
  • Project Support (5%) Help with budgeting, scoping, and scheduling for multiple projects. Ensure all project milestones are met within the designated timelines and budget constraints.

Requirements:

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • 5+ years of experience in automatic, industrial food processing equipment or similar fields in product development.
  • Proficiency in CAD systems such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Creo, or similar.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude through hands-on experience in design, testing, or troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and product development processes.
  • Apply advanced mathematical concepts and engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with lifecycle management of design data, including CAD models, drawings, and ECNs.
  • Normal working conditions are in an office environment, with provisions for flexible hours and remote work.
  • Work in manufacturing, vendor, and customer facilities, using appropriate PPE for the tasks.

Travel & Location

  • You will be onsite/hybrid and travel up to 10-15% of the time.

 

COMPENSATION RANGE: $75,000– $110,000 - Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience.
