We support the defense, energy, and science markets through responsive, cost-effective execution of critical security, facilities and infrastructure, nuclear defense and nonproliferation, and environmental projects.Principle Areas of ResponsibilityPipingDeveloping process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and sequences of operations; selection and layout of mechanical equipment and associated piping systems; and developing mechanical construction and equipment specifications, test and inspection plans, and system design descriptions.Perform hands-on CAD using Microstation and/or AutoCAD MEP and/or Revit platformsPerform piping calculations with industry software (Arrow, Fathom, etc.).Communicate with equipment vendors to determine requirements for applying products.Perform field verification and take-offs of existing systems for renovation projects.Coordinate with other disciplines (fire protection, architectural, structural, and Electrical etc) for Piping details.Understand work planning and manage design process to the available hours and schedule.Generate calculations, design analyses, construction drawings, and specifications.Design experience should include the followingMechanical wet and dry piping systems (all systems).Heating and chilled water hydronic piping systems, natural gas piping systems, domestic water and waste water piping systems, steam and condensate piping systems, compressed air systems, and mechanical system controls, etc.Facilities LayoutPlumbingKnowledge of Federal requirements for life cycle cost analyses of energy consuming systems and building envelope alternativesDOE, DOD and Nuclear experience is a plusJob RequirementsMust have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. A Master's Degree in Engineering is plus.Must have a PE or willing to obtain within one year of hire.Requires progressive experience in Mechanical Engineering (Piping). Minimum 8 years' experience or higher. Ability to demonstrate competency in design of common Piping systems and equipment, including both air and hydronic equipment.Ability to demonstrate extensive knowledge of codes and standards, including ICC, ASHRAE, ASME, IBC, IPC and NFPA + Familiarity with ASME B31.1, B31.3 and B31.9 plus ASME Section VIII.Familiarity of pipe line sizing calculations, sizing of pressure relief valves, sizing of pressure control valves.Must be familiar with plumbing system design including working knowledge of common plumbing codes.Possess working knowledge of computers and software such as AutoCAD and /or Microstation, Microsoft Office Suite and software used for specific technical applications within the department.Superior verbal and written communication skills.DurationDirect HireAdditional InformationThis position may require the ability to obtain a government clearance.
