Location: San Fernando Valley, CA Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the mechanical design and development of industrial housings, enclosures, and mechanical systems.
Design products to meet applicable IP, NEMA, and explosion-proof requirements.
Translate customer and engineering requirements into practical, manufacturable designs.
Design tooling, fixtures, and equipment to support manufacturing and testing.
Support product certification and compliance testing.
Create and maintain engineering drawings, fabrication documentation, assembly documentation, and cost estimates.
Provide hands-on engineering support for manufacturing and field-related issues.
Work with outside vendors and customers on technical requirements.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve product quality, manufacturability, and reliability.
Mentor junior engineering personnel and contribute to engineering design best practices.
Perform other related engineering duties as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of mechanical engineering experience designing industrial or related products.
Experience designing products for low- to medium-volume manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of:
Machining
Sheet metal
Castings
Plastics
Materials and manufacturing methods
Familiarity with IP ratings, NEMA standards, and explosion-proof enclosures.
Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as Pro/E, SolidWorks, or similar.
Experience with 2D AutoCAD.
Knowledge of engineering analytical methods, including:
FEA
Heat transfer
Strength of materials
Ability to work effectively with manufacturing teams, vendors, and customers.
Strong technical communication and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing-related software.
Spanish/English bilingual skills are a plus, but not required.
Work Environment
This position is 100% onsite in the San Fernando Valley, CA and involves direct interaction with engineering, manufacturing, and physical equipment. Remote work is not available. Occasional extended hours may be required to support critical projects or customer needs.
