HDR is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Madison-based Power Generation team. The role supports power and energy projects within the utility, IPP, industrial, institutional, and municipal sectors.ResponsibilitiesMechanical equipment and pipe sizingEquipment and piping layout considerationsConstruction document development (P&IDs, system layout/installation drawings, and specifications)Engineer/equipment vendor submittal reviews and vendor/contractor communicationsTechnical writing (reports, procurement specifications, etc.)Code reviewsSite visitsProject planningManaging within an assigned budget and scheduleDesign and specification of power generation fluid systems (steam, condensate, fuel gas, cooling water, compressed air, and similar systems)Utilization of software for detailed fluid analysis or modeling (preferred)Career PathThe candidate will be encouraged and trained to progress from a mechanical or lead engineer to a project engineer and ultimately into a project manager or engineering manager. The role will involve collaboration with engineers and designers from multiple disciplines and may include mentoring younger engineers.TravelRequires travel for site surveys, technical conferences, client meetings, and construction monitoring.
