PGS Worldwide is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in Maple Grove, MN for a one-year temporary role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.

The Mechanical Engineer will support mechanical design, analysis, documentation, development, assembly, and test activities for defense systems such as ammunition handling systems, structures, gun systems, missile launchers, mechanisms, and related mechanical products. This hybrid role requires strong Creo experience, mechanical design capability, and the ability to support product parts, assemblies, drawings, technical documentation, and production support activities.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a relevant technical discipline with 4+ years of relevant experience, or master's degree with 2+ years of experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Working knowledge of creating moderately complex solid models and mechanical designs using CAD systems.
  • PTC Pro/E or Creo experience preferred.
  • Ability to solve moderately complex technical design and development problems using professional engineering knowledge.
  • Experience working with internal or external shops to manufacture designs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to research, plan, analyze, design, and develop mechanical products.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret design specifications, drawings, documents, models, and test results.
  • Ability to ensure technical designs comply with engineering standards, military specifications, and product requirements.
  • Ability to develop and revise technical documentation.
  • Ability to provide input to project leaders for project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Ability to maintain a safe work environment and follow safety policies.
  • No security clearance required.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with relevant military and commercial design standards.
  • Familiarity with current computer applications and technologies used in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • Experience in a military product production environment.
  • Experience developing precision assembly tooling.
  • Good working knowledge of GD&T principles, including ASME Y14.5-2009 or ASME Y14.5-2018.
  • Good working knowledge of tolerance stack analysis.
  • 2+ years of Creo modeling and drawing generation experience.
  • Windchill experience.
  • Experience with mechanical design, aerospace design, production support, assembly tooling, technical data packages, product assurance, mechanical analysis, and manufacturing coordination.

What You'll Do

  • Research, plan, analyze, design, and develop mechanical products and systems.
  • Support designs involving ammunition handling systems, structures, gun systems, missile launchers, mechanisms, and other devices.
  • Perform technical analysis, testing, and evaluation of moderately complex engineering problems.
  • Use specialized equipment and computer programs to support design and analysis work.
  • Create and maintain product parts, assemblies, and drawings using PTC Creo Parametric 11.
  • Analyze design specifications, drawings, documents, models, and test results.
  • Verify that technical designs comply with engineering standards, military specifications, and product requirements.
  • Develop new technical documentation and revise existing documentation.
  • Provide input to technical papers or presentations as needed.
  • Support production-related technical presentations when required.
  • Perform engineering design, development, analysis, experimentation, test, and product assurance tasks.
  • Build effective relationships with customers and internal teams.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant engineering disciplines, industry practices, trends, and applications.

Work Schedule / Shift

  • Hybrid role based in Maple Grove, MN.
  • Minimum 3 days onsite per week.
  • Tuesday and Wednesday are mandatory onsite days.
  • Monday or Thursday may be used as the third onsite day.
  • 9/80 schedule.
  • Overtime expected as needed.
  • Per diem eligible.

Pay

  • $55.57/hour
