Position Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and optimize mechanical systems and products from concept through production. The role focuses on CAD-based mechanical design (SolidWorks), creating detailed drawings and models, prototyping and testing mechanical assemblies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver manufacturable, reliable solutions with a strong emphasis on automation and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Create 3D models and detailed 2D drawings using SolidWorks and other CAD tools to support product development and manufacturing.
- Develop mechanical designs for components, assemblies, and systems with attention to function, manufacturability, cost and reliability.
- Collaborate with electrical, controls, software, and manufacturing teams to integrate mechanical and automation systems.
- Build and test prototypes, perform hands-on troubleshooting, and iterate designs based on test results and feedback.
- Perform engineering analysis including tolerance stack-ups, FEA basics, and stress/thermal assessments; apply GD&T to drawings.
- Prepare bills of materials (BOMs), assembly instructions, and technical documentation to support production and quality control.
- Support manufacturing transfer, supplier selection, and production troubleshooting to resolve issues and reduce scrap.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts, standardize components and processes, and participate in design reviews and project meetings.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Masters degree or professional registration (PE) is a plus.
- 3+ years of mechanical design experience, preferably in product development, automation, or industrial equipment.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and other CAD tools, with a strong portfolio of component and assembly designs.
- Experience with mechanical design principles, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and familiarity with manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, injection molding).
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and root-cause troubleshooting; ability to use measurement tools and interpret test data.
- Background in automation systems, including mechanical integration with actuators, sensors, and basic PLC or motion control concepts preferred.
- Strong communication skills, ability to work in cross-functional teams, manage priorities, and meet project deadlines.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and a commitment to producing robust, manufacturable designs.
