Mechanical Engineer

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Civil Engineering (minimum)
• Minimum of 5+ years of related experience in crane or material handling equipment design
• Knowledge of ASME, AISC, and CMAA standards
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or Pro-E for 3D design
• Computer literate in Excel and Word
• Self-motivated with leadership abilities
• Ability to design mechanical drive systems and perform initial sizing calculations for motors, gearboxes, couplings, and mechanical components
• Detail-oriented with ability to precisely follow customer specifications and industry codes from many different countries
• Ability to properly annotate drawings with AWS D1.1 weld symbols, ANSI machining symbols, and other standardized signs
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally, including entrance to nuclear power plants
• Ability to work in collaborative design environment with other disciplines (electrical, structural, civil, installation)

Responsibilities:

• Design cranes, material handling equipment, and other devices in SolidWorks working in structured 3D environment where sharing models between engineers is the norm
• Design mechanical drive systems and perform initial sizing calculations to properly apply motors, gearboxes, couplings, and other mechanical components
• Develop Bills of Materials (BOM) to itemize all components of mechanical design and properly annotate drawings with AWS D1.1 weld symbols and ANSI machining symbols
• Perform design changes to existing equipment for modernization projects and provide phone support and technical assistance to installation crew and customers
• Develop detailed technical specifications and procedures for customer use and perform optimization of bridge girders, trolleys, and crane components to reduce costs and improve delivery schedules
