Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to support the Product Platforms and Engineering team by providing comprehensive sales and system application support. In this role, you guide Sales and internal Engineering teams on product design to meet customer requirements and play a key part in developing customized solutions, including creating design proposals, verifying solutions, and preparing detailed drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide detailed sales and system application support for product platforms and engineering projects.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales and internal Engineering teams to understand customer needs and translate them into effective product designs.
  • Develop customized mechanical design solutions that align with customer specifications and performance requirements.
  • Prepare clear and accurate design proposals for internal review and customer presentation.
  • Verify proposed solutions to ensure technical feasibility, manufacturability, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Create and revise detailed mechanical drawings and models using CAD tools such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Support sheet metal design and manufacturing considerations within mechanical designs.
  • Contribute to project management activities by organizing design tasks, tracking progress, and supporting on-time delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in manufacturing and engineering to ensure smooth transition from design to production.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of designs, revisions, and application support activities.

Essential Skills

  • Entry-level experience in mechanical drafting and design.
  • Associate degree in an engineering-related field.
  • Proficiency in mechanical engineering principles and mechanical design practices.
  • Ability to create and interpret detailed mechanical drawings and models.
  • Experience with SolidWorks for 3D mechanical design and modeling.
  • Experience with AutoCAD for 2D drafting and design documentation.
  • Understanding of sheet metal design and related manufacturing processes.
  • Basic project management skills to support planning, coordination, and tracking of design activities.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical documentation.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams.

  • Background in design and drafting within an engineering environment.
  • Experience working with manufacturing teams to align designs with production capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple design tasks and support projects concurrently.

Work Environment

This position is based in Harlan, IA within a corporate engineering setting. You work closely with Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams, using tools such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD to support design and drafting activities. The environment emphasizes collaboration, accuracy, and responsiveness to customer needs. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $75000.00/yr.
