The Mechanical Engineer role leverages expertise in Mechanical Engineering principles to define, analyze, and design mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with project objectives and stakeholder needs.ResponsibilitiesDesigns and integrates complex mechanical systems and components digitally before physical productionPerforms stress and structural design analysis, including assessing the strength, durability, and safety of components under various stress conditionsGenerates and collaborates in drawings, electronic models, and documentation used for manufacturing, integration, and testingPerforms functional analysis to decompose high-level requirements into detailed functions and allocate them to mechanical system elementsIdentifies and assesses potential risks associated with designs and their manufacture and proposes mitigation strategiesLiaison with process engineers, systems engineers, and simulator designers to ensure integration of mechanical systems is feasible and achievableRequired ExperienceBS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a relevant technical field (significant work experience in mechanical design engineering may be substituted for education)Minimum 2 years of experience in a combination of mechanical engineering and a related technical domain (e.g., simulation, building design, or the energy industry).Proficiency in the interpretation and creation of technical drawings and 3D models using CAD, Model Based Design (MBD), interface control documents, requirements specifications, and system modelsExperienced in design for manufacturing and knowledge of common manufacturing methodsProficiency in principles of solid mechanics, hydraulics, and materialsMust possess a working knowledge of ASME Y14.1 and Y14.5 GD&T standardsAwareness of risk management processesStrong computer skills and experience with standard office software.To work at this facility, you must be a US personPreferred Skills and ExperienceExperience with naval or industrial power plantsLicensed Structural Engineer, Professional Engineer or Engineering Intern/Engineer in Training (E.I or E.I.T) certificateExperience with any combination of: Building Information Models (BIM), AutoDesk Revit, Deltek CostPoint, SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM, Jama requirements management, TipQAProficiency in any combination of: HVAC, Fire Alarm and Suppression Systems (FASS), piping and valves, structural decking, industrial simulationKnowledge and/or experience with relevant quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001)Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for data analysis or automationExperience in test planning and execution for complex systems#LI-OnsiteCompetitive salary based on experience and educationKratos is valued for our ability to design and deliver leading edge, resilient solutions for aerospace communication, control, awareness and mission success across a continuum of offerings from commercial to tailored custom solutions and integrated programs.
