Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

This Mechanical Engineer role supports the testing and validation of electric motors and motor-driven systems used in aerospace and defense applications. The position is focused on motor testing, fixture and test stand design, and dynamometer testing to ensure products meet performance, reliability, and safety requirements before integration into larger actuator assemblies.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include designing and building test equipment, conducting hands-on testing, analyzing results, troubleshooting issues, creating 2D manufacturing drawings from 3D CAD models, and applying GD&T principles. The engineer will work closely with Electrical Engineers and cross-functional teams while documenting test procedures, results, and findings in a fast-paced development environment.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor"s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3-5 years of mechanical or test engineering experience
  • Experience with motor testing, fixture design, and dynamometer testing
  • Strong GD&T knowledge and CAD experience (Creo, NX, Inventor, AutoCAD)
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical assemblies, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Strong documentation and technical writing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a collaborative team environment

Work Environment 100% onsite in a hands-on engineering and test environment, working with motors, test equipment, industrial machinery, and large test fixtures. The role requires close collaboration with engineering teams and emphasizes safety, technical excellence, and detailed documentation.

This is a Contract position based out of Park Ridge, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.
