Mechanical Engineer – (Industrial)
Location: Richland, WA
Pay Rate: $60hr - $70hr DOE
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Work Type: On-site
Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Project Engineer to support industrial capital projects within a manufacturing environment. This is a design-forward role, not a project management position.
The ideal candidate is a true engineer and doer, actively involved in mechanical design, analysis, and execution, with the ability to contribute technically across the full project lifecycle, from early design through commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform hands-on mechanical design and engineering for industrial facilities
- Support projects across the full lifecycle, including pre-FEED, FEED, detailed design, construction, and commissioning
- Develop and review mechanical system designs, including HVAC, hydronics, and process piping
- Prepare and review calculations, specifications, and engineering deliverables
- Ensure compliance with industry codes and standards (ASME, ASME B31.3, ASHRAE, local building and fire codes)
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (engineering, construction, procurement) to execute design intent
- Participate in field activities, inspections, and commissioning support
- Identify design gaps, troubleshoot issues, and provide practical engineering solutions
- Support coordination with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders
- Contribute to project execution while remaining technically engaged
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
- 8+ years of hands-on experience performing mechanical design and analysis in industrial or manufacturing environments
- Proven experience working as part of a project team focused on design and analysis, not just oversight
- Strong background in MEP systems, including HVAC, hydronics, and process piping
- Demonstrated ability to be hands-on in design, calculations, and technical problem-solving
- Experience working on industrial capital projects
- Strong understanding of engineering codes and standards (ASME, ASHRAE, etc.)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, or ability to obtain within 3 months
Preferred Qualifications:
- PE License (highly preferred) or ability to obtain within 3 months
- Experience in an owner’s representative role
- Background in steel structures, seismic design, and industrial frameworks
- Ability to balance technical design work with project coordination
