Job Description

Join a dynamic team to contribute to a multitude of development projects, spanning from concept to launch. You will engage in both design and problem-solving, ensuring products are ready for manufacturability and launch.

Responsibilities

• Develop design work using Creo.
• Collaborate with Program Managers to ensure timely project delivery within expectations.
• Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineers to ensure assembly accuracy and troubleshoot issues.
• Engage with the purchasing team and suppliers, providing CAD data, models, and drawings.
• Work with the tool shop to create or modify tools.
• Develop new plastic designs and collaborate with the molding department for feasibility.
• Participate in hands-on testing, executing predefined tests using equipment.
• Support Neocon Projects by conducting tests and ensuring manufacturability for production readiness.
• Lead design efforts for Demanded Projects, working closely with tool shops.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical engineering expertise.
• Proficiency in new product development and prototype design.
• Experience in metal fabrication, aluminum extrusion, formed sheet metal, and plastic injection molding.
• Bachelor"s Degree in Engineering.
• 5+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience.
• CAD proficiency, particularly in SolidWorks or Creo.
• Strong understanding of design for manufacturability.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with multiple materials such as plastic injection molding, die casting, aluminum extrusions, metal fabrication, and formed sheet metal.
• Formal or informal leadership experience, with cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience in rough metal fabrication, including break forming, sheet metal, light welding operations, machining, mill, lathe, and CNC.
• Proficiency in Smartsheets.
• Examples of initiative-taking and teamwork.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position, requiring 40 hours per week with flexible hours from 8 AM to 5 PM, including a 1-hour lunch break. You will be part of a supportive team including a Project Manager, two customer engineers, one project engineer, and two part-time team members. The environment encourages hands-on involvement in ideation and prototyping, offering benefits such as sick leave and six holidays.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockford, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.86 - $48.08/hr.
