Job Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer - Testing role at our client will lead the end-to-end testing and optimization of electromechanical systems for advanced computer vision and telemetry products, collaborating closely within mechanical engineering and cross-functional teams. This hands-on role involves CAD design, prototyping, vendor coordination, build and test support and generating and maintaining proper documentation.
Responsibilities:
Own and lead product testing activities, including vibration, temperature, ingress protection, and environmental stress testing.
Support mechanical engineering team optimize design for performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability.
Support mechanical engineering team to design and develop electromechanical systems for computer vision and telemetry products, from concept through manufacturing, including CAD design, prototyping, testing and 2D drawings
Support mechanical engineering team with creating and managing documentation (3D CAD, 2D drawings) to support internal and external stakeholders.
Build, test, debug, and maintain engineering builds through hands-on work with prototypes and production units.
Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, such as SAE J1455, MIL-STD-202, and ISO-16750.
Support the development and testing of ruggedized hardware for automotive and other demanding environments.
Required Qualifications:
1-3 years experience in a Mechanical or other related Engineering role designing, testing and documenting products in 3D CAD, interacting with vendors, and maintaining controlled documentation
Experience owning a product development process from start to finish, including shipping hardware (ideally, LOTS of hardware)
Experience designing for processes such as CNC machining, sheet metal, injection molding, 3D printing, and others.
Experience with international testing standards like SAE J1455, MIL-STD-202, ISO-16750 and relevant automotive standards
Hands on experience with mechanical and environment testing such as vibration, temperature, ingress, etc
Hands-on experience with shop tools and processes such as 3D printing, dremel, soldering iron, wire crimping, etc.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Deeper expertise in at least one Mechanical Engineering discipline (analysis, environmental ruggedization, manufacturing, etc.)
Experience in telemetry/computer vision industry
Experience in automotive or other outside products
Previous experience in a start-up or early-stage company
Located in the San Francisco Bay Area or willing to relocate
