Make independent reviews of plans and specifications of moderately difficult to complex major projects involving complex computations, legal and technical interpretations of the Plumbing Code and/or other pertinent codes or regulations. Consult architects, mechanical engineers and public on questions relating to Plumbing Code and other pertinent codes. Approve the issuance of buildings permits for plumbing work upon satisfaction that plans and specifications meet requirements. Instruct Plumbing Inspectors on the difficult provisions of the Plumbing Code and other pertinent codes. Prepare correspondence and technical reports pertaining to the Plumbing Code and related matters.

Minimum Qualification Requirements At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in an engineering specialty.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: One year of registered professional mechanical engineering experience.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT: Possession of an appropriate valid drivers license, as required. Possession of a valid license as a professional mechanical engineer in the State of Hawaii.
NOTE: Applicants with a current out-of-state professional mechanical engineer license must obtain their Hawaii license prior to appointment.
