About the RoleAs part of HDR's Building Engineering Services Group, you will help design critical infrastructure for digital‑age facilities such as high‑performance data centers and dynamic commercial environments. Your contributions will support technological advancement, sustainability, and human experience.ResponsibilitiesCoordinate the work of the mechanical design team through the schematic design development and contract document phase of a projectEstablish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code complianceCoordinate workload to complete the document on scheduleConduct work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplinesReview mechanical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplinesWrite and edit mechanical specifications, select equipment, mechanical systems and devicesCoordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed‑upon changes into the project documentsProvide construction contract administration as neededConduct QA/QC on the work of other Mechanical Project Engineers, Mechanical Project Coordinators or Mechanical CAD Technicians as neededPerform other duties as neededPreferred Qualifications5-10 years experience in HVAC and plumbing systems designRevit MEP experience preferredComputer experience utilizing MS Office, IESVE, Trane TRACE, or similar manufacturer selection softwarePrevious experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firmAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a mustCommercial/institutional experience in healthcare, technology/data centers, and/or water‑wastewater preferredMaster's degree or other advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with mechanical emphasisExperience and/or interest in sustainable design, LEED, desired but not requiredRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical EngineeringPrevious experience in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildingsProfessional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (e.g., PE or P.Eng)Experience in commercial or institutional facilitiesComputer experience using MS Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, manufacturer selection softwarePrevious experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firmAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a mustLocationPrimary: United States – Missouri, Kansas City.
