Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Analyst for a contract-to-hire role with a premier management consulting client in Atlanta, GA.
Role Overview:
The Mechanical Engineering Analyst will support client growth, sustainability, productivity, and innovation initiatives. Working in small teams (23 analysts/experts), you will help shape current and future product portfolios while driving cost reduction and margin improvement across engineering, procurement, and product management. Engagements often involve on-site collaboration with client stakeholders to diagnose, analyze, and implement tailored business initiatives. Success requires strong individual ownership, impact, and client collaboration.

You will collaborate with a global network of consultants within the firm's Operations practice and Design Labs, contributing to firm-wide knowledge development. The Operations practice blends strategic thinking with hands-on execution to solve complex operational challenges. Design Labs partner closely with clients on integrated product development and procurement, balancing customer needs, competitive offerings, and manufacturing/distribution costs. The team leverages tools, software, and experience across levers such as product matrix optimization, complexity reduction, design for manufacturing/assembly, and commercial excellence.
Required Skills & Experience:
2+ years of mechanical design and manufacturing experience (e.g., R&D, testing, prototyping, systems integration); experience with Tier 1/2 automotive suppliers, high-tech hardware, or advanced manufacturing preferred
Strong mechanical system and component design knowledge
Familiarity with CAD/simulation tools (e.g., SolidWorks)
Strong communication skills; effective in multinational environments; self-motivated and proactive
Ability to work independently or collaboratively; comfortable with ambiguity and minimal direction
Willingness to travel and work on-site with clients
Experience managing multiple priorities and initiating projects
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and analytical
Excellent presentation skills; able to clearly explain complex mechanical concepts
NCEES FE certification or PE licensure preferred
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field required (top programs preferred, e.g., MIT, Stanford, UC Berkeley, Caltech, Georgia Tech)
Strong academic record with a minimum GPA of 3.4
