Job Opportunity in Houston, TX

Join a leading Oilfield Services company as a Mechanical Equipment and Piping Engineer. We are seeking skilled professionals to join our Client's team at their Houston location, where you'll be at the forefront of designing and implementing mechanical and piping systems for large-scale data centers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support management team goals and programs.
  • Check and approve drawings and documentation to ensure they meet industrial standards and codes.
  • Review and monitor engineering work for accuracy and compliance with specifications and safety practices.
  • Participate in design and development planning to meet customer and industry needs.
  • Prepare Technical Requisitions for mechanical systems and components.
  • Review vendor quotations and provide feedback to the procurement team.
  • Develop mechanical engineering deliverables such as valve lists, equipment lists, and piping stress studies.
  • Prepare Material Take Offs and Bills of Materials.
  • Innovate solutions to reduce costs while maintaining quality and schedules.
  • Stay informed of new developments affecting the organization and recommend changes.
  • Make independent technical decisions and represent the organization in meetings.
  • Stay updated with advancements in data center technologies and recommend improvements.
  • Select and design appropriate painting, coating, and insulation systems for data center components.
  • Advise project and discipline engineers on industry codes and client specifications.
  • Supervise outsourced piping engineering work when necessary.
  • Create and check project-specific "Design Basis" documents.
  • Perform or check pipe stress analysis and provide piping load information to structural engineers.
  • Review "as-built" drawings and ensure conformity through calculations.
  • Act as the primary contact for clients, addressing inquiries and concerns professionally.
  • Provide technical support during construction and respond to RFIs.
  • Attend job site visits, project meetings, and commissioning activities as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field.
  • Professional Engineering License is strongly preferred.
  • 3 to 10 years of experience in mechanical design and engineering, focusing on data center infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in producing design drawings and sketches.
  • Knowledge of data center construction, operation, and maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of piping and fire suppression system design.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes such as ASME, IBC, PFI, OSHA, ANSI.
  • Experience with CAD and BIM software.
  • Experience with fast-track design/build projects or significant upgrade projects.
  • Understanding of chillers, cooling towers, mechanical control systems, and other critical data center equipment.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems in data centers affecting mechanical scope.
  • Experience negotiating with regulatory agencies for design approval and permitting.
