About Us

We are a mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP); building automation; and industrial piping contractor. Our team offers a variety of MEP and process piping services, including design-build engineering for new construction and renovation, installation and specialty construction, maintenance, and air balancing, start-up, and energy efficiency services.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical construction projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and other documentation. The Mechanical Estimator will consult with clients, vendors, engineers, and contractors to develop estimates, resolve issues, and ensure scope clarity. Key responsibilities include performing quantitative take-offs, preparing proposals and scope letters, attending pre-bid meetings, and maintaining strong relationships with customers and subcontractors.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future projects.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
  • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Review contract and bid documents; review and understand scope for project turnover
  • Attend walk-throughs, pre-bid and scope clarification meetings.
  • Quantitative take-off and computer entry.
  • Prepare scope letters and proposals.
  • Maintain relationships with customers, General Contractors, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate efforts with the Engineering Department when needed.
  • Ensure documents are centrally saved in the company's drive within the confidential estimating folder(s).
  • Assist project managers with takeoffs and pricing changes in work.
  • Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Estimating Manager with recommendation for resolution.
  • Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.
  • Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by executives.

Qualifications

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years related experience in the construction industry.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and contract documentation.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and city regulations and guidelines.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel).
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in PDF viewers (Adobe or BlueBeam).
  • Familiarity with estimating software (AutoCAD Fabrication EstMEP, Quotesoft, etc.)
