Job Description
Mechanical Estimator - Construction - Base Salary to 90k/year - Knoxville, TN
- Our client, a well-established construction contractor with a strong regional presence, is seeking a Mechanical Estimator to support MEP-focused commercial and industrial projects, with a primary emphasis on HVAC and sheet metal systems. This role will focus on preparing accurate cost estimates, performing detailed takeoffs, and supporting competitive bid development.
Responsibilities:
- Review project drawings, specifications, and bid documents for MEP-focused construction projects
- Prepare detailed labor and material takeoffs for HVAC and sheet metal systems
- Develop accurate cost estimates including equipment, materials, labor, and subcontractor scope
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as required
- Collaborate with internal teams to support bid strategy and project turnover
- Maintain knowledge of applicable mechanical codes, materials, and industry standards
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience estimating mechanical construction projects with a strong MEP focus
- Direct experience estimating HVAC and sheet metal systems
- Experience supporting commercial and/or industrial construction projects
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents
- Experience performing detailed labor and material takeoffs
- Proficiency with estimating/takeoff software (such as Trimble AutoBid or similar)
- Proficiency with Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe
- Experience working with vendors and subcontractors to develop pricing
- Must be able to work onsite in the Knoxville, TN area
Compensation:
- Base salary in the 70k - 90k/year range
