    Description

    Primary Responsibilities: This position leads daily maintenance execution, develops employees, improves equipment reliability, and ensures maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. The Team Leader works closely with Operations, Planning, Reliability, and Engineering to maximize equipment availability while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

    This is a leadership position for someone who enjoys developing people, driving accountability, and improving maintenance performance.

    Lead Maintenance Operations

    • Lead and coordinate daily activities of an industrial mechanical maintenance team.
    • Establish clear expectations for safety, quality, productivity, and workmanship.
    • Hold employees accountable to established standards while providing coaching and development.
    • Ensure maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and with a focus on long-term equipment reliability.
    • Provide technical guidance and support for complex mechanical repairs and troubleshooting.

    Execute Maintenance Work

    • Coordinate preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities.
    • Partner with Maintenance Planning to execute scheduled work with minimal disruption to production.
    • Verify completed work meets quality expectations before equipment is returned to service.
    • Support planned outages, major shutdowns, and capital improvement projects.
    • Assist in prioritizing maintenance activities based on safety, equipment criticality, and production impact.

    Improve Equipment Reliability

    • Identify recurring equipment failures and lead efforts to eliminate repeat problems.
    • Support root cause investigations and implementation of permanent corrective actions.
    • Drive continuous improvement in maintenance practices and work execution.
    • Promote precision maintenance techniques and quality workmanship.

    Develop People

    • Coach and develop maintenance craftsmen through daily feedback and hands-on leadership.
    • Identify training opportunities and support employee skill development.
    • Foster teamwork, accountability, and professional growth within the department.
    • Reinforce company policies, procedures, and safety expectations through consistent leadership.

    Partner Across the Operation

    • Build productive working relationships with Operations, Planning, Reliability, Engineering, and other support teams.
    • Communicate equipment status, priorities, and maintenance needs clearly and professionally.
    • Support plant goals related to safety, reliability, production, and cost control.

    Job Experience: A willingness to learn and grow is critical for this position.

    Required Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or GED.

    • Minimum five (5) years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience.

    • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.

    • Strong working knowledge of:

    • Bearings

    • Gearboxes

    • Conveyors

    • Hydraulics

    • Pneumatics

    • Mechanical power transmission

    • Pumps

    • Rotating equipment

    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

    • Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

    • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in OSB, lumber, wood products, pulp and paper, steel, mining, cement, chemical processing, or other heavy industrial manufacturing.
    • Experience with CMMS software such as Maximo.
    • Experience supporting preventive maintenance and reliability-centered maintenance programs.
    • Experience leading outage planning and execution.
    • Technical certifications, apprenticeship, or military mechanical maintenance experience.
