Basic Job Functions:

A Mechanical Maintenance Technician will have a working knowledge of basic mechanical principles and possess practical experience as it relates to the mechanical maintenance function. Basic functions will include, but are not limited to: 

  • PM tasks such as lubricating 
  • Inspection and monitoring machinery 
  • Trouble shooting and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, power transfer mechanism such as coupling, gear boxes, belts and sheaves 
  • Basic metal fabrication including cutting, grinding, and welding.  
  • Mobile Equipment including Scissors Lifts and Man Lifts 

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.  

Minimum Requirements:
  • 2 year Mechancial Degree or 3 year experience in mechancial technician in an industrial/manufacturing setting 

  • Project Management experience 

  • Microsoft Office experience

  • Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance 
  • Problem Solving - Identifying problems and analyzing or reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

  • Teamwork - Working as part of a coordinated effort with others to achieve a common goal. 
  • Dependability -Being reliable, responsible, and dependable, and committed to fulfilling obligations. 
  • Communication Skills - The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. 
  • Spatial Understanding - Ability to read prints and apply information to end use. Awareness of physical surroundings and understanding objects in 3-D space. 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with industrial hydraulic systems 

  • Experience with power transmission and machine assembly 

  • Experience with lubrication and bearing applications 

  • Leadership or Supervisory Experience
