Job Summary
The Estimator is responsible for performing detailed quantity takeoffs and material assessments for mechanical piping systems across commercial projects. This role supports preconstruction and estimating efforts by delivering accurate, timely, and well-documented takeoff data to ensure competitive and profitable bids.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Include the following. Other duties will likely be assigned.
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs of mechanical piping systems, including:
Hydronic piping
HVAC piping systems
Process piping and specialty systems (as applicable)
Review construction drawings, specifications, narratives, and addenda to identify scope requirements.
Analyze plans to determine material quantities such as equipment, pipe, fittings, valves, insulation, supports, and specialties.
Utilize digital takeoff software (Bluebeam and Trimble) to complete accurate measurements.
Coordinate with estimators from other trades, project managers, and engineers to clarify scope gaps or discrepancies.
Provide organized takeoff summaries and backup documentation for estimate reviews.
Assist in developing and maintaining unit pricing databases and labor assumptions.
Track drawing revisions and update takeoffs as project documents evolve.
Identify value engineering opportunities and constructability issues during the takeoff process.
