Job Description:
Our client, a large New England gas and electric utility, is seeking a Senior Engineer to support Client operations and the Engineering and Technical Services group. The role provides procedure and standard review, policy and procedure development, documentation management, training, technical writing, project controls and maintenance management support, and provides comprehensive engineering support to Client capital projects including feed gas pre-treatment, boil-off gas recompression, liquefaction, vaporization, electrical distribution, and instrumentation and controls. The Senior Engineer reports to the Lead Engineer and works directly with Operations, internal stakeholders and external vendors as assignments require.
Fully onsite, based in Hopkinton, MA, with approximately 20 percent travel to other plant sites. Schedule 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Contract through September 2027 with potential to extend.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and lead the technical group's review of project documents; coordinate and participate in stakeholder meetings and keep assigned tasks moving.
- Plan, execute and manage assignments in support of Client operations and Client capital projects, including engineering and project management.
- Ensure all standards and documentation conform to NFPA 59A, 49 CFR Part 193, ASME B31.3 and other applicable codes and standards.
- Support development of project budgets and cost estimates, prepare bid specifications, and perform equipment analysis and selection.
- Develop new process and equipment procedures; lead standard and procedure reviews so Client processes are uniform and meet quality standards.
- Document projects for future regulatory review; ensure projects meet objectives for quality, technical specification, reliability, schedule and budget.
- Obtain, integrate and coordinate internal and external resources to deliver project outcomes on time.
- Support the Client group's Management of Change process in collaboration with Engineering and Operations.
- Provide training support on Client standards, policies and procedures.
- Support documentation management for projects and plant records.
- Support Client plant inventory management, including identification of commissioning spare parts, entry into the inventory system and coordination between logistics and Operations.
- Support maintenance management in the computerized maintenance management system as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical, chemical, process, petroleum or related engineering discipline plus 8 years of experience; or Associate's degree plus 10 years; or 12 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Experience on an engineering, maintenance, technology or construction project team supporting Client, power, oil or gas plant construction.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, cryogenic processes, piping, instrumentation, controls, rotating machinery and hazard identification as they relate to Client.
- Strong ability to interpret drawings and technical documents.
- Able to support onsite project activity, monitor quality and provide feedback; capable of field duties including climbing, walking on uneven surfaces and working in inclement weather.
- Independently motivated, highly organized, and able to handle multiple competing projects and short timeframes without detailed direction.
- Excellent written and oral communication; frequent stakeholder interface.
- Skilled in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Project, Adobe PDF and AutoCAD.
- PE or PMP preferred, not required.
