We're seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to join our dynamic team, oversee complex projects, and play a pivotal role in transforming the future of Amazon's logistics network.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and oversee the mechanical design of automated fulfillment center projects, managing multiple projects and cross‑functional engineering teams from concept to completion.Direct selection, specification, and integration of conveyor types, third‑party equipment, and systems across projects.Coordinate with electrical, controls, and structural engineering teams to ensure cohesive, integrated designs.Develop and manage mechanical engineering project plans, schedules, deliverables, and ways of working for multiple projects.Lead coordination with internal and external construction teams, minimizing layout conflicts and ensuring efficient installation.Provide high‑level decisions to resolve complex field issues and project challenges, balancing competing priorities across multiple projects and stakeholders.Mentor and manage junior engineers, providing guidance on complex technical challenges, leadership skills, and career development.Set technical standards and best practices for the engineering team, and oversee the review and approval of calculations and designs.Ensure all mechanical designs meet safety, regulatory, and performance standards, implementing quality control measures and design standards across the team.Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering organization and represent the team in strategic planning discussions.Travel to sites as needed to conduct audits, resolve complex issues, and support teams.Basic Qualifications5+ years of design and innovation, research and development work experience.Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a foreign equivalent.Experience managing engineering design projects.Proficiency in business or technical software such as MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software.Preferred Qualifications5+ years of specialty experience with progressive responsibility.Master's degree in Engineering (any domain), Operations, Business Administration, or a related field.Knowledge of system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, electronic system design, and decision making.Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and high‑speed manufacturing.Experience with design‑in‑safety principles.Strategic thinking about overall systems and translating them into detailed requirements for the team.BenefitsMedical, Dental, and Vision Coverage.Maternity and Parental Leave Options.Paid Time Off (PTO).401(k) Plan.Additional benefits include health insurance, life insurance, EAP, mental health support, and more.
