Job Title: Mechanical Project ManagerJob Description

The Mechanical Project Manager plans, coordinates, and manages industrial mechanical projects from award through final completion. This role serves as the primary point of contact for customers and leads project planning, scheduling, procurement, field coordination, budgeting, and change management to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to high quality standards. The Mechanical Project Manager works closely with estimating, project coordinators, field crews, vendors, subcontractors, and company leadership to successfully execute maintenance, outage, shutdown, capital improvement, and industrial construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage comprehensive project execution plans from project award through completion.
  • Break projects into detailed daily and weekly work plans to support efficient field execution.
  • Create manpower plans, work sequencing strategies, schedules, and resource requirements for each project.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively address schedule impacts, operational challenges, and constraints.
  • Coordinate project turnover with estimating to ensure scope, budgets, assumptions, exclusions, and customer expectations are clearly understood.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout project execution.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through responsive communication and professional project management.
  • Conduct project meetings and provide customers with schedule updates, progress reports, and overall project status.
  • Coordinate with customers regarding outages, shutdowns, startup activities, and project logistics.
  • Obtain material quotations from multiple vendors and evaluate pricing, availability, and delivery schedules.
  • Select appropriate vendors based on project requirements, quality, cost, and schedule considerations.
  • Submit purchasing decisions to the Project Coordinator for purchase order verification and material procurement.
  • Coordinate equipment rentals, specialty tooling, subcontractors, and long-lead materials to support project needs.
  • Monitor procurement activities to ensure materials and equipment are available when required by the schedule.
  • Support field leadership and field crews throughout project execution by providing direction, resources, and operational guidance.
  • Coordinate manpower, subcontractors, equipment, and materials to align with project schedules and milestones.
  • Conduct regular jobsite visits to monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and assist with problem resolution.
  • Work closely with field leadership to improve productivity, communication, safety, and overall project execution.
  • Connect practical installation knowledge with disciplined commercial decision-making in a field-focused project environment.
  • Contribute to the growth and improvement of project planning and estimating standards, procedures, tools, cost history, and review practices.

Essential Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience managing industrial mechanical construction, maintenance, outage, or shutdown projects.
  • Strong understanding of industrial mechanical systems, including piping, rigging, welding, equipment installation, and construction sequencing.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and mechanical plans.
  • Proven experience in project planning, scheduling, and execution for industrial mechanical projects.
  • Demonstrated skills in project management, including budgeting, change management, and field coordination.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to work effectively with mechanical design and process piping.
  • Experience with quantity takeoffs, digital takeoff tools, and field reporting.
  • Strong estimating skills related to mechanical, industrial construction, and fabrication-supported work.
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with field crews, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience as a mechanical estimator or in mechanical design is highly beneficial.
  • Background in process piping and industrial construction environments.
  • Familiarity with project budgets and cost control practices.
  • Experience in project coordination across estimating, operations, field leadership, shop and fabrication teams, procurement, safety, finance, and business-line leadership.
  • Ability to influence and improve standards, procedures, tools, cost history, and review practices within project and estimating functions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining attention to detail and quality.

Work Environment

This role is based in an office and field environment in Pottstown, PA, with approximately 50-75% travel to customer sites. The position operates in industrial settings that involve mechanical systems, piping, rigging, welding, equipment installation, and construction activities. The Mechanical Project Manager collaborates closely with estimating, operations, field leadership, shop and fabrication teams, procurement, safety, finance, and business-line leadership in a highly team-oriented culture. The work environment emphasizes strong field-focused practices that connect practical installation knowledge with disciplined commercial decision-making, and offers opportunities to have a direct impact on project success, company growth, margin performance, and the development of preconstruction and estimating disciplines.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pottstown, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
