Overview of the Position:


The Repairs Engineer will oversee the development, documentation, and deployment of FAA / Operator approved repair parts and procedures. The Repairs Engineer has the responsibility and authority to perform assigned tasks.


 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Develops repairs for aerospace components (PMA, DER, ERP, OOP)

  • Develops and applies creative solutions to all forms of problems including engineering, technology, supply chain, communication, process flow

  • Uses standard measurement tools such as a micrometer, caliper, depth gage, thread gage, radius gage, comparator, CMM / Precision Arm to gather dimensional data

  • Performs or determines correct material composition / analysis requirements

  • Creates 3D CAD models and dimensional data reports from reverse engineering data

  • Prepares written procedures for test equipment and test plans, develops or assists with development of test equipment

  • Sources appropriate vendors, organizes / executes quote requirements and quotes data

  • Manages multiple reverse engineering projects simultaneously

  • Creates drawings, reports, data packages to submit for approval to FAA and Customers

  • Other duties may be assigned


 


Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Capable of reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, CMMs, customer specifications, and procedure manuals

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence



  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry

  • Capacity to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations



  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Organized and Detail oriented

  • Ability to work with and draw from a variety of materials and technical applications

  • Demonstrated design experience of mechanical or electrical components

  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite and Wencor production ERP system (Quantum)

  • Strong experience with 3D CAD modeling, with Solid Works experience preferred

  • Experience with FAA DER process, FAA certification process of PMA parts, experience with FAA regulatory guidance applicable to PMA parts.


 





Education /Experience Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering

  • 1-2 years minimum applicable design experience and training.

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to effectively assemble logical and objective data to support a position.
