Job Description

The Mechanical Superintendent plans, directs, and coordinates activities of multiple project teams to ensure that goals and objectives of the project(s) are accomplished on time, implemented at or below the estimated cost, and billed in a timely fashion throughout the duration of the project(s).

Responsibilities

  • Receive, organize, and review information from the Site Manager, Site Client,  Sales Representatives, and/or project development teams
  • Schedule, conduct, and attend all project construction meetings
  • Assist project manager with and update project schedule and cost estimates on a routine basis
  • Manage resources by planning, scheduling, and forecasting personnel and resource requirements
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, training, mentoring, and evaluating. When necessary, they may make related recommendations in accordance with company policies
  • Coordinate project in accordance with contract documents and approved sales estimate
  • Review and approve material and subcontract invoices for payment
  • Ensure material that is being installed is in accordance with project documentation
  • Ensure all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after the process to foster a positive safety culture by having a safety-first mindset and approach during execution of activities
  • Assist project coordinator in strategic planning for the department
  • Prepare subcontractor bidding documents and negotiates subcontracts
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Eight (8) years of related work experience required; more than eight (8) years preferred
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience required
  • Ability to understand contracting procedures and tactics relative to such areas as project correspondence, documentation, timely notice of claims, and subcontract negotiation, as well as subcontract administration, codes, and standards
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong leadership skills, including team leadership, employee mentoring and development, and empowering others through delegating responsibility
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience demonstrating successful support of a positive safety culture
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation(s)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
