Mechanical Superintendent
Location: Tampa, FL
Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite at Project Site
Compensation: $88,000$118,000 annually, based on experience
Position Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Mechanical Superintendent for a direct-hire opportunity in Tampa, FL. This position will lead day-to-day field operations for large commercial HVAC and plumbing construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and according to quality standards.
The ideal candidate has proven experience supervising field operations on $10M+ commercial construction projects and a strong background in mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing construction.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise daily field operations, personnel, subcontractors, and mechanical construction activities.
Coordinate HVAC and plumbing installations with project management, General Contractors, and other trades.
Manage field staffing, labor productivity, scheduling, materials, equipment, and project priorities.
Ensure work meets project drawings, specifications, quality standards, budgets, and schedules.
Conduct safety meetings and ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and established safety procedures.
Perform material takeoffs and coordinate tools, materials, equipment, and deliveries.
Monitor labor, material, and field-related costs to support project profitability.
Lead meetings with foremen and field personnel regarding safety, productivity, quality, and scheduling.
Coordinate required inspections, startup, and commissioning activities.
Support prefabrication, fabrication, and drafting coordination as needed.
Identify and resolve field conflicts, installation issues, and schedule concerns.
Maintain strong relationships with customers, subcontractors, field personnel, and project stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
2+ years of Superintendent experience on large commercial HVAC and/or plumbing projects.
5+ years of experience on large commercial construction projects valued at $10M or more.
Strong knowledge of commercial mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing construction.
Experience supervising field personnel, subcontractors, and trade partners.
Knowledge of construction scheduling, labor management, materials, project costs, and field productivity.
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification required.
Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work 100% onsite at the project site in Tampa, FL.
Preferred Qualifications
State Mechanical, HVAC, or Plumbing Contractor's License.
Mechanical prefabrication experience.
Experience with Primavera P6.
Experience supporting mechanical system startup and commissioning.
