This is a full time, in person role located in Sacramento, California. You will be the customer-facing subject matter expert responsible for engineering activities involved in the specification, procurement, integration, verification, and validation of the supplier provided coupler and articulation systems for passenger rail vehicles along with associated systems regulatory compliance.ResponsibilitiesCollaborate regularly with internal and external partners both within the United States and in EuropeCustomer technical specification requirements managementWrite technical specifications defining requirements for supplier provided coupler and articulation systems with a focus on mechanical, electrical, and software integrationPreparation of bid documentation, such as technical writeups and CDRL'sSupport the procurement of the coupler and articulation systemsThis posting outlines the primary responsibilities of the role, but is not all-inclusive; additional duties may be assigned in alignment with business needs.QualificationsBS degree in Mechanical + 5 years of relevant experience; or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering + 2 years of relevant experience; or PhD in Mechanical Engineering + 1 year of relevant experience.Experience using 3D cad software for the design and integration of mechanical systems (preferably PTC Creo)Working knowledge of Finite Element analysis and strength assessment principlesWorking knowledge of interpretation of electrical schematicsExperience with projects from start to finish of the bid, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, testing, operational, and warranty stagesSome travel is required.Candidates should be willing to work in non-climate-controlled environments and inclement weather if required or if applicable.Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without needing current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.BenefitsSiemens offers a variety of health and wellness benefits to our employees.
