Position Overview

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for assembling, installing, modifying, and testing mechanical components and systems used in power generation equipment, including gas turbine packages and aviation-derived turbine systems. This role supports the assembly and integration of equipment associated with industrial power generation projects, including projects utilizing turbine technology. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience working with rotating equipment, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and assembly instructions.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical components and systems according to engineering drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions.
• Perform fitting, mounting, alignment, adjusting, and operational testing of equipment such as engines, gas compressors, hydraulic pump & motors, and control equipment.
• Conduct quality inspections throughout the assembly process to ensure compliance with engineering requirements and maintain the highest quality standards.
• Utilize hand tools, machines, and standard shop assembly tools.
• Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Collaborate with team members to improve assembly processes and enhance operational efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years of mechanical assembly experience in manufacturing, power generation, aerospace, oil & gas, heavy industrial equipment, or related industries.
• Experience reading mechanical drawings, blueprints, and assembly documentation.
• Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, precision measuring instruments, and mechanical assembly equipment.
• Personal basic hand/power tools are required
• Ability to understand mechanical systems, piping layouts, and equipment integration.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to lift-up 50 pounds and work in a manufacturing/shop environment.
• Ability to work overtime and occasional weekends as required by project schedules.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience with gas turbines, aviation-derived turbines, or power generation equipment.
• Familiarity with FTAI Aviation turbine systems, GE LM2500/LM6000, Siemens, Solar, or similar turbine technologies.
• Experience with skid-mounted equipment assembly.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, lubrication, and cooling systems.
• Forklift, crane, or rigging certifications.
• Mechanical trade school, technical certification, or military mechanical maintenance experience.
• Technical certification in mechanical assembly or a related field is a plus.

The Mechanical Technician is expected to perform all duties with a strong commitment to safety, ensuring the well-being of themselves, coworkers, customers, and third parties always.

The role requires flexibility to work extended hours, including days, and as needed, nights, weekends, and holidays to support project and service requirements.

Work conditions may vary and include indoor and outdoor settings, exposure to varying weather conditions, and active industrial or construction sites. The Mechanical Technician must consistently follow all safety protocols and properly utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
