Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Field Technician to provide on-site technical support at a customer location in Romulus. This role involves performing general maintenance and repairs on various mechanical equipment. As a customer-facing position, you will be stationed at one customer site without the requirement for travel.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site repairs, maintenance, and general service tasks using basic hand tools.
  • Conduct product demonstrations of basic mechanical equipment.
  • Provide maintenance support and training to in-house maintenance staff as needed.
  • Offer technical guidance and expertise where applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School degree (preferred: Associate degree in a technology field, e.g., mechanical, electrical, electronics).
  • Broad knowledge of mechanical hand tools and principles.
  • Understanding of PC applications, including Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to use iPads to complete work orders, send/receive email, and attend team calls.
  • Ability to present technical concepts to non-technical individuals.
  • Ability to understand technical diagrams and manuals.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal direction.
  • Adaptability to change and tight deadlines.
  • Must be able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Good customer service and organizational skills are necessary.
  • Ability to reason, communicate, make cognitive decisions, understand deadlines and timelines, and provide accurate results.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours during the workweek and have open availability to work weekends and holidays on an as-needed basis.
  • Must have the ability to lift 60 lbs. or less, carrying and lifting tools and parts weighing up to 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend, squat, walk, stand, and/or sit for prolonged periods of time and must be able to carry 50 lbs.
  • May be required to push and pull a cart with equipment weighing up to 60 lbs.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to work on your feet for extended periods of time.
  • Company tools are provided; however, candidates should have protective footwear (boots required, steel toe recommended but not required) and gloves. Safety goggles and earplugs will be provided on-site.
