Job Summary

We are seeking a Mechanical Field Technician to provide on-site technical support at a customer location in Suffolk, VA. This role involves performing maintenance and repairs on various mechanical equipment. The position is customer-facing, with no travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site repairs, maintenance, and general service tasks using basic hand tools.
  • Conduct product demonstrations of basic mechanical equipment.
  • Provide maintenance support and training to in-house maintenance staff when necessary.
  • Offer technical guidance and expertise as applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School degree required; Associate degree in a technology field (e.g., mechanical, electrical, electronics) preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of mechanical hand tools and principles.
  • Proficiency in PC applications, including Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to use iPads for work orders, emails, and team calls.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to present technical concepts to non-technical individuals.
  • Understanding of technical diagrams and manuals.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal direction.
  • Adaptive to change and tight deadlines.
  • Must work independently with little supervision.
  • Good customer service and organizational skills.
  • Ability to reason, communicate, make cognitive decisions, and provide accurate results.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours during the workweek and availability for weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs., carry and lift tools and parts up to 20 lbs., and push/pull a cart with equipment weighing up to 60 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend, squat, walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods.

Tools and Safety Equipment

  • Company-provided tools.
  • Candidates must have protective footwear (boots required, steel toe recommended) and gloves.
  • Safety goggles and earplugs provided on-site.
