Test Technician (Entry-Level)

Location: Troy, MI

Department: Durability / Safety Testing

Shift: 11pm - 9am (Thursday - Sunday)

Employment Type: Full-Time 10 hour shifts

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Test Technician to join our team. This is a hands-on, entry-level position where you will work on projects from start to finish, primarily focusing on setting up and executing durability or safety tests.

This role is ideal for someone who learns quickly, possesses basic mechanical skills, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. If you enjoy multi-tasking, working independently when needed, and seeing a project through from setup to completion, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

As a Test Technician, your core duties will involve:

  • Test Preparation: Interpreting technical specifications and accurately preparing/setting up test articles, vehicles, and fixtures (requires kneeling and heavy lifting).
  • Execution & Evaluation: Performing tests and evaluating the performance of test articles using various measurements and sensors.
  • Documentation: Keeping precise and detailed records of test procedures and results.
  • Communication: Collaborating and communicating clearly and in a timely manner with supervisors, team members, and customers.
  • Project Management: Organizing and prioritizing daily tasks to ensure all project deadlines are met.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Monitoring and maintaining test equipment to ensure a safe and efficient workflow.
  • Cross-Facility Collaboration: Collaborating with other MGA facilities to maintain consistent operating practices and introduce continuous improvements.
Note: Due to the nature of testing schedules, extended hours may occasionally be required to meet project deadlines.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Detail-Oriented: High attention to detail in testing, setup, and documentation.
  • Physical Capability: Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted and perform physical tasks (including kneeling and heavy lifting).
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to solve problems independently.
  • Technical Skills: Experience using basic hand and power tools.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency with general computer applications (Microsoft Office - Outlook, Excel, Word).
Preferred Qualifications
  • General understanding of automotive parts, mechanics, and fasteners (metric/standard).
  • Experience with basic fabrication tools (band saw, drill press, etc.).
  • Welding experience.
  • Hi-lo (forklift) operation experience.
