This role works across disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, controls, and software, to deliver robust, production-ready solutions from concept through field deployment.The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to define system requirements, develop designs, and validate performance through structured testing and commissioning activities. Responsibilities include designing mechanical systems, implementing control systems, integrating hardware and software components, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations. The position requires hands‑on involvement in prototype builds, testing, troubleshooting, field support and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance, reliability, and manufacturability. Additionally, the engineer provides ongoing technical support to production and field‑service teams, resolving issues and driving corrective actions to ensure successful product operation in real‑world environments.Key Responsibilities System Design & Development Design and develop integrated electromechanical systems, including mechanical, electrical, controls, and software componentsDefine system architectures, select components, and ensure proper integration of sensors, actuators, controls, and embedded systemsCreate mechanical design and drawings and system documentation to support development and manufacturing.Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, safety, and regulatory requirementsControls, Software & Integration Develop, program, and debug control systems including robots, PLCs, and HMIsIntegrate industrial hardware platforms, networks, and communication protocols into complete systemsConfigure and validate I/O devices, motion systems, and control logic for machine operationSupport system‑level integration across mechanical, electrical, and software domainsDevelop and execute test plans for prototypes, subsystems, and full systems to verify performance and complianceSupport prototype builds, system bring‑up, and validation activities in lab and production environmentsParticipate in factory acceptance testing (FAT), field commissioning, and system startupDocument results, identify issues, and drive corrective actions to closureTroubleshooting & Product Support Diagnose and resolve issues in electromechanical systems during development, production, and field operationProvide technical support to manufacturing, service, and customer teamsPerform root‑cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actionsSupport ongoing product maintenance, upgrades, and sustaining engineering activitiesCross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls, software, manufacturing, and quality teams to deliver product solutionsParticipate in design reviews, risk assessments (e.g., DFMEA), and project execution processesDrive improvements in system performance, reliability, manufacturability, and costContribute to engineering standards, best practices, and documentation processesRequired Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Robotics Engineering, or a closely related field from an ABET-accredited program5+ years of experience in design, development, and integration of electromechanical or automated systems in industrial environmentsExperience with industrial control systems (B&R Industrial Automation, Rockwell/Allen‑Bradley) including PLC programming, HMI development, and system integrationProficiency in programming and software development including structured text and ladder logic. Professional experience with C/C++ and Python is a plus.Hands‑on experience in system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of automated equipment in production environmentsAbility to read and interpret technical documentation, including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawingsExperience with CAD tools (Solidworks, AutoCAD or equivalent) for electrical or mechanical design documentationStrong analytical, problem‑solving, and root‑cause analysis skills applied to complex electromechanical systems with the ability to work cross‑functionally across engineering, manufacturing, and service teamAdditional Requirements Ability to work collaboratively and execute tasks autonomously with transparency and integrity, incorporating multiple sources of input and aligning with consensus direction.Excellent English language communication (oral, written, and listening) and interpersonal skills.Team‑oriented; able to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).Strong research and analytical skills for investigating project‑related issues and innovations.Able to troubleshoot, solve problems and quickly recommend solutions.Ability to lift and move up to 50 poundsAble to travel 25% of the time.The responsibilities are not to be considered exhaustive.
