Position Overview
The Mechatronics Technician is responsible for assembling, installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining integrated electromechanical systems that combine mechanical components, electronics, sensors, and software. This role supports deployment and lifecycle management of advanced technology solutions including POS systems, mobile devices, automation equipment, and data capture technologies.
This position bridges mechanical, electrical, and IT disciplines to ensure seamless system functionality in both lab and field environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble, configure, and test electromechanical systems including POS hardware, barcode/RFID devices, mobile computing equipment, and automation components
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software issues across integrated systems
  • Perform system diagnostics, calibration, and preventative maintenance
  • Support installation and deployment of systems in warehouse, retail, and field environments
  • Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Integrate hardware with networked systems, including wireless connectivity and device management platforms
  • Conduct system validation and quality assurance testing prior to deployment
  • Document configurations, repairs, and service activities
  • Collaborate with engineering, IT, and operations teams to resolve complex issues and improve system performance
  • Assist with process improvements and continuous optimization initiatives
Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or technical certification in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of experience in a mechatronics, automation, or integration technician role
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Electrical systems and low-voltage wiring
    • Mechanical assemblies and components
    • PLCs, sensors, actuators, and control systems
  • Experience troubleshooting integrated hardware/software systems
  • Ability to read technical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Familiarity with networking basics (IP configuration, wireless systems, device connectivity)
  • Proficiency with hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and testing instruments
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with RFID, barcode scanning, or enterprise mobility devices
  • Exposure to industrial automation or robotics systems
  • Knowledge of scripting, device imaging, or system configuration tools
  • Experience supporting deployments in warehouse, manufacturing, or retail environments
  • OEM certifications or vendor-specific training
Physical & Work Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work with mechanical equipment
  • Comfortable working in warehouse, retail, or field environments
  • Ability to stand, bend, and perform hands-on technical work for extended periods
  • Occasional travel may be required for installations or support
