What will you be doing in this role?
The Medical Laboratory Assistant CPT functions with the general supervision of senior technical/clinical personnel. Responsibilities may include:
• Collecting, receiving, processing, and distributing laboratory specimens or blood from voluntary blood donors • Communicating information about tests and test results • Performing operational and support functions • Assessing blood donor health histories • Assisting in the orientation and training of new employees
The MLA CPT activities include performing all job duties with sensitivity and attention to the age and developmental issues of the patient populations(s) being served.
Qualifications Requirements:
• High school diploma or its equivalent • Phlebotomy Certificate that meets the mandates of the laws and regulations of the State of California • One year of clinical laboratory experience, including familiarity with laboratory information systems (preferred) • Appropriate interpersonal skills for interacting with peers, patients, physicians, and other customers of the Medical Center • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language
Physical Demands Frequent sitting and standing; occasional walking and bending; occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds for distances to 10 feet. Responsiveness to auditory alarms and communication devices including telephones, beepers, fire alarms, mechanical failure alarms. Visual acuity acceptable for performing duties of this position. Sufficient mobility to access equipment, patients, and other customers.
