Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Medical Oncology Physician, you will join our dynamic healthcare team, specializing in the diagnosis, staging, and treatment of cancer. You will be instrumental in managing patient care through systemic therapies, such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted treatments, while leading and collaborating within multidisciplinary care teams.

Every day you will engage in critical decision-making, from confirming diagnoses and staging cancer to developing personalized treatment plans that incorporate the latest advancements in medical oncology. Your role involves close collaboration with surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, and oncology nurses, ensuring comprehensive, coordinated care for our patients. We empower our providers by offering comprehensive resources to ensure they can focus on what matters most - caring for patients and serving their communities.

To be successful in this role, you will be a highly skilled, board-certified (or eligible) Medical Oncologist with a profound understanding of cancer biology and systemic therapies. You will possess exceptional analytical and diagnostic abilities, alongside robust communication skills essential for guiding patients and their families through complex treatment journeys. You will also demonstrate a deep commitment to patient-centered care, symptom management, and the pursuit of clinical excellence through participation in research and clinical trials, all while upholding the highest standards of medical ethics.

• Diagnose and stage cancer by examining patients, ordering biopsies/imaging, and interpreting test results.
• Develop personalized treatment plans utilizing various systemic medications, including chemotherapy, hormone therapy, biological therapies, and immunotherapy.
• Lead and coordinate care by collaborating closely with surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, and oncology nurses to provide comprehensive, integrated cancer care.
• Monitor patients continuously, manage and treat side effects, and coordinate palliative and supportive care options to enhance patient quality of life.
• Conduct regular post-treatment surveillance for cancer recurrence and meticulously manage survivorship care plans.
• Participate actively in disease-specific tumor boards and facilitate patient access to cutting-edge clinical trials and research opportunities.
• Adhere to the standards and principles of medical ethics of the American Medical Association, and all recognized associations or accrediting boards concerned with Medical Oncology.
• Collaborate with our Physician Group's resources, including supply chain expertise, technology implementation trainers, contracting experts, centralized credentialing, financial reporting/modeling, and communication, to optimize operational efficiency.

Required:

• Doctorate in Medicine (MD) or Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
• Successful completion of a 3-year residency program in Internal Medicine.
• Completion of an accredited 3-year Hematology/Oncology or Medical Oncology fellowship.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Medical Oncology or Hematology/Oncology.
• Active, unrestricted state medical license.
• Current Drug Enforcement Agency ("DEA") registration.
• Ability to obtain Medical Staff Privileges within the Health system, at sponsoring institutions.
• Strong diagnostic and clinical skills in managing a wide range of cancer types.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to educate and support patients and their families, and to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with advancements in cancer treatment.

Preferred

• Experience participating in clinical trials and oncology research.
• Demonstrated experience in a high-volume oncology practice or academic medical center.
• Possesses expertise in a particular subspecialty of oncology (e.g., GI, breast, lung).
