Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Correctional facility requiring 2 years of recent acute care Med/Surg experience plus correctional nursing experience.

Details

• Correctional facility setting within Med/Surg unit
• Day shift schedule of 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• No block scheduling accommodations
• Every other weekend requirement (2 weekends per month)
• Mandatory float facility; clinicians must float within scope to meet facility needs across a variety of units, including outside primary competency with team-based support
• May be asked to float to other facilities within 50 miles, with as little as 2 hours notice
• Uses Cerner charting system
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required in hand at time of consideration (no pending licenses accepted)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care Med/Surg experience required
• Correctional nursing experience required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Skills required include isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, cardiac monitoring, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Two professional references required prior to start, from most recent employers, with one from the most recent employer
• International candidates must obtain SSN/SSC prior to consideration
• Proof of COVID vaccination required (booster not required)

• Provide direct patient care within a correctional facility environment, including wound care, IV therapy, and respiratory support
• Team-based care model implemented when floated outside primary competency
• RTO limited to 5 days maximum with no more than 2 consecutive days; no RTO on weekends
• No holiday RTO and no RTO the day before or after a holiday; calling out on a holiday may result in contract cancellation
• Returning clinicians must undergo full recredentialing and reattend orientation, even if the break in contract was less than 30 days
• Non-billable orientation modules average 4 hours and must be completed prior to start
• Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius of the facility
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this assignment
